Care & Maintenance

With some simple care your Foresso surface will last for years to come. We believe strongly in the customer's right to maintain and repair so we've designed Foresso to make that as easy as possible.

Tolerances

What if my sheet isn't flat or is bowed or warped?

Most Foresso sheets vary in flatness, both across the width and the length. This is due to lots of different small factors but can be mitigated by warming the sheet up.

Foresso has plenty of flex to it and can easily be fixed down using screws.

What should I expect from the wood chips?

Our wood comes from non commercial sources and can vary in colour, please refer to specific product pages for more details.

Within a sheet you will have a variety of wood colours, as well as a variety of chip densities. Some areas will have more chips, and some will have fewer.

What is a factory edge?

When we supply sheets that are not cut and finished they have a factory edge.

This edge is uncut and unfinished, it will be rough and may have writing, barcodes, or other marks on it. Full sheets will need to be trimmed to enable the edge to be finished.

What thickness tolerances do you work to?

Every sheet is calibrated and finished individually and we work to + / - 0.5mm.

This means that a Foresso sheet will be between 23 and 24mm thick, while No-Chip will be between 19 and 20mm thick.

Suitability

Is Foresso suitable for wet rooms?

No, we do not recommend Foresso for wet rooms, inside showers, or other areas that will have significant amounts of standing water.

What about bathrooms and kitchens?

Foresso is great for both bathroom and kitchen floors and countertops. Treat it as you would other wooden surfaces, although it is more durable.

You can find more detailed guidance on how to maintain your surface on our Care and Maintenance page.

Can I use Foresso outside?

We recommend Foresso for internal use.

How heavy are your materials?

Foresso : Approx 22kg per square metre.

No-Chip : Approx 13kg per square metre.

Worktops

How heat resistant is it?

Foresso is totally fine for hot plates, mugs, and the like, but a hot pan off the stove will mark it. Think of it like a more durable hardwood.

How durable is it?

Foresso has good stain and scratch resistance. Our standard hardwax oil finish gives good water repellence. It will age over time, but is very easy to maintain and refresh for years to come.

Can I use an undermount sink?

We recommend surface or flush mounted sinks sealed with silicone to prevent water ingress to the plywood substrate. We do not recommend or warrant against the use of undermount sinks.

Can you cut a drainage board into the worktop?

We do not recommend that drainage grooves are cut into Foresso.

Do you survey and template for worktops?

We do not offer a templating service. You can use our Custom Surface Calculator to design your own!
